The Story Of the CD Cover

A Call to Design

I was on my way to pray the rosary for a friend of mine who is dealing with breast cancer when I suddenly ran into another friend of mine who seemed absolutely overjoyed to see me. Now Mary Murphy and I are busy Mom's with children at the same school and we run into each other serendipitously and not as often as we would like. It turns out that Mary was fresh from a planning meeting with Greg Amaya where they had been discussing the CD and how they were in need of an artist. Greg asked Mary if she knew of an artist and my name came to mind. She had remembered that I had done some work for the school and had painted a mural in the library. Greg and Mary prayed together for the right person to create the cover and not 15 minutes later Mary and I run into each other in the parking lot. When she told me of the plan for the CD and how she and Greg had just prayed, I got chills up and down my spine! I told her to have Greg contact me and that I would be happy to help out.

Imagine that first meeting with Greg when he found out that not only was I an artist but a graphic designer as well, with many years experience in advertising and marketing. I was definitely the person that could help him out. But then I got cold feet. Greg started to tell me his ideas and his vision for the piece and how many souls would be converted by the CD and his enthusiasm was overwhelming. I thought to myself, "I am not worthy to create such a thing, I have my talents but they are limited", etc. But deep down as always when I work, I asked for guidance and direction and I knew it would work out to be the way Our Mother wanted it to be. This was her project and I was just one of her many instruments to get it accomplished!

Still a little bit doubtful, I received a phone call that day reminding me that I had signed up for the Living Rosary that evening at church. Of course, it had slipped my mind, so I bundled up my 6-yr. old and 9-yr. old daughters and out the door we went. After the rosary I ran into my friend Mary Murphy once again and revealed to her my doubts about the cover. She took my hand and said,"all will be fine...Our Mother chose you.....". I knew it too.

I walked over to my car and noticed something that my children had left on the rear bumper. It was a prayer card with a beautiful image of the Madonna and child. I felt strongly that I was to use this image somehow and prayed silently for a confirmation that I was to proceed. When I went home that evening I picked up one of the six Medjugorje magazines Greg had given me to look over. When I opened the magazine, I flipped open to the exact same picture my chidren had placed on my bumper. It was a large picture and the story about the painting and the artist. Wow! This was my confirmation and answer to my prayer!

I hope you enjoy the CD and the beautiful love that Our Mother has for all of us.

God Bless You!
